A Very Warm Welcome to The Chaplaincy of Christ the Good Shepherd, Poitou-CharentesThis Chaplaincy was created to serve an estimated 25,000 English speakers living in the area. In five years, with the help of the Intercontinental Church Society (ICS) we have grown from small informal home groups to a pastoral district covering an area about the size of Wales. We welcome English-speaking people of all denominations and those of no denomination. In March 2004 we were formally inaugurated as a Chaplaincy in the Church of England's Diocese in Europe. We try to offer a range of styles of worship to suit most people, including Common Worship, The Book of Common Prayer, and informal Prayer and Praise services. In addition to our Sunday services, we also offer a variety of mid-week activities including home based groups, a choir, a rambling club and a regular programme of social events throughout the year. Our Chaplaincy is a largely rural Church with nine regular worship centres and most residents are within a 40 minute car journey of at least one of the services. For more details of the churches used, please go to our Location of Churches Page
We also share many of our social events with our French neighbours as part of our commitment to assisting the integration into the community as a whole. If you are visiting or living in the Poitou-Charentes area you are more than welcome to join us.
