| | As one reads through the New Testament one is left in no doubt about the strategic importance of small groups at every phase in the development of the Church. Often these small groups met in people's homes : Jesus himself used the home of Simon Peter in Capernaum as his base for teaching - it was there that the paralysed man was lowered through the roof and healed. But Jesus also spent time in many other people's homes, healing the sick, having fellowship with the family or advising those who'd begun to follow him. When he sent his disciples out in pairs they too were to go to people's homes (Matt. 10:14; Luke 10:5).
With such a strong emphasis on the home , it's not surprising that from the very beginning the Church took root in people's houses. The Chaplaincy aims to be a "mixed-economy" church; we provide traditional church services but we also want to offer more informal environments where people can discover their gifts and grow in their faith. Home groups are just such environment. Why not join one today?
